The 70th Anniversary Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, inducting Brett Favre and Jordy Nelson, emceed by Donald Driver and honoring Barry Alvarez for a Lifetime Achievement Award has been rescheduled to occur in an outdoor, socially distanced event that will follow CDC, State and Local Guidelines on Friday, August 21, 2020, at the newly owned and renovated Lac La Belle Golf Club in Oconomowoc, WI, established in 1896.
Executive Director Brian Lammi said, “With COVID-19 ‘decelerating’, as professional sports leagues, movie theatres, hotels, restaurants, golf courses and more continue to host guests, we are confident that our thorough research, strategic planning and best practices implementation will ensure a safe, healthy environment for one of the most historic evenings in Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame history. With statewide and national media coverage confirmed, we are also excited to reach more fans than any other event in our 70 years.”
President of The Club at Lac La Belle, Tyler Morse said, “Our family is honored to host this year's Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame Induction. We have spent the past two years renovating and restoring the historic Club at Lac La Belle, and we are thrilled the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame has chosen to celebrate its 70th anniversary during the Club's inaugural summer.”
Health and safety protocols will include:
Exclusive, limited audience at the event
Vast majority of event scheduled to occur outdoors
Temperature scanning on site available for employees, volunteers and guests
CDC recommended cleaning procedures followed prior to, during and after event
Require frequent employee and volunteer hand-washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Ample hand sanitizer will be available that contains at least 60% alcohol
Encourage staff, volunteers and guests to cover the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
Require the use of masks/face coverings among staff and volunteers
Provide staff and volunteers with information on proper masks/face covering usage
Ongoing communication with staff, volunteers and guests on health and safety procedures
Signage requesting that guests limit the number of people who occupy the restroom at one time to allow for social distancing
Clean and disinfect restrooms multiple times on the day of the event
Multiple entrances and exits utilized to discourage crowded waiting area
Cash will not be accepted at the event, financial transactions will be limited and touchless
Social distancing measures
Physical barriers including sneeze guards and partitions will be used at the bars
Limited shared touching of objects
Continued consultation with government and healthcare experts on best practices strategies and execution
Favre and Nelson, who created so many legendary moments for the Packers over the past three decades, will join 143 of the state’s greatest athletic icons, including Barry Alvarez, Al McGuire, Bud Selig, Junior Bridgeman, Donald Driver, Charles Woodson, Herb Kohl, Bob Harlan, Robin Yount, Sidney Moncrief, Herbert Kohler, Jr. and Bob Uecker.
Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame Board President Donald Driver said Favre and Nelson were both uniquely qualified, “We are honored and excited to welcome two legendary Packers, and two of my good friends to this historic institution,” said Driver, who was inducted in the Hall of Fame at the 65th Anniversary Induction.
